Our Story

Our mission is to empower top Chefs to extend their culinary excellence beyond their own walls through rigorous menu curation and a delivery operation run with five-star hospitality standards.

It started with one imperfect delivery — and one ambitious idea.

During the first lockdown in 2020, Volup’s founder Álvaro Meyer experienced what many did: cold meals, long delays, and a lack of quality options on existing delivery apps. A conversation with a local restaurant owner confirmed it: great restaurants wanted to deliver, but not at the cost of their reputation. And they struggled to do so without the right setup. That insight
became the spark for Volup: a delivery platform created for those who care about food and for restaurants that refuse to compromise on quality. Eight weeks later, Volup launched in Lisbon with five handpicked restaurants. Today, we continue to grow across Portugal and Spain, always guided by the same belief: that staying in can — and should — be every bit as special as dining out.

"I created Volup to prove that delivery could be as refined and satisfying as dining out. Every plate we deliver should make someone’s day a little more special."

Bio

Under his leadership, Volup has grown to over 60 partners in Lisbon, including MICHELIN-starred restaurants, award-winning Chefs, and gourmet shops. In 2025, the company began its international expansion with the launch of its second city: Madrid, Álvaro’s hometown.

Before founding Volup, Álvaro launched Ubimov, one of the first TVDE fleets in Lisbon and now among the top five largest in Portugal. While studying Finance, his first professional experience was at McDonald’s, where he became the youngest store manager in Spain within just one year — a role he credits with teaching him invaluable lessons about kitchen operations, efficiency, and team leadership.

Bio

Mónica joined the company in December 2024 to lead growth, strategy, and team operations, helping position Volup to scale internationally from its Lisbon base. A passionate foodie at heart (as her Instagram feed can attest!), Mónica brings over 15 years of experience in digital marketing and mobile apps.

Before Volup, she spent more than a decade at Google, where she held roles across brand, product marketing, and research — often building global initiatives from the ground up. She has also advised startups and entrepreneurs in nutrition, social media, and financial coaching, helping them shape go-to-market and communication strategies.
